Marlies Neugebauer (1974, NL) is a mixed media artist who lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Through sculptures and installations, Marlies aspires to tell stories and depict emotions that explore the contrasting concepts of everyday life, such as order and disorder, perfection and imperfection, happiness and sadness, and life and death. By delving into these polarities, she explores how they can coexist in a newfound balance, despite their inherent tensions. Her artistic approach consists of creating vibrant compositions and working in a collage-like manner, which allows her to create order out of chaos while responding to the coincidences that may arise during the creative process.
Her works are often a kind of three-dimensional collages with an architectural slant, or works in which she makes use of the architecture of an existing space.
